Healthcare Program
Providing essential medical care, emergency healthcare assistance, and life-saving medicines to people in conflict-affected and remote regions.
Following the 2021 military coup, the ongoing revolution and armed conflict have significantly disrupted healthcare systems across Myanmar. Access to basic healthcare has become increasingly limited, particularly for displaced populations and communities in remote areas.
In response, Clean Yangon has prioritized healthcare as a critical area of support, delivering practical and direct assistance to those most in need.
What We Have Done
- Conducted more than 100 mobile medical missions since June 2021, reaching displacement camps and remote mountainous communities.
- Established a permanent clinic in Karenni State in June 2024, providing free healthcare services to both local residents and displaced populations.
- Contributed over MMK 400 million toward the construction of a surgical facility in Karenni State, along with continued support for medical equipment and essential supplies.
- Supported the construction of the Yaung Ni Clinic in southern Karen State, including surgical capacity, with an investment of approximately MMK 1 billion.
Challenges and Context
A hospital constructed in central Myanmar was destroyed approximately one year after completion due to armed conflict, and is no longer operational.
This reflects the ongoing risks and challenges of sustaining healthcare services in conflict-affected areas.
Ongoing Work
Clean Yangon is currently constructing a new hospital with surgical capabilities in a high-need operational area, which is nearing completion.
In addition, a rehabilitation center for injured individuals is being developed to support long-term recovery.
